THE FRIENDS OF INWOOD HILL PARK SEEKS TO UNITE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY IN SERVICE OF STEWARDING AND ENJOYING THE LENAPE LAND OF INWOOD HILL PARK AND THE SHORAKAPOK PRESERVE.
Friends of Inwood Hill Park was founded in 2015 by Inwood residents Sara "Sally" Fisher and Chris M. A. Whitney. The photo on the right is at a 2014 Shorakapok Earth Keepers event, where Sally and Chris first met. Chris & Sally both became permitted NYC Parks Stewards. The annual Friends of Inwood Hill Park Earth Day Festival was later established in 2016.
Sally passed away in November 2022. We carry her passion on into our work. You can read more about Sally's life by clicking here. Friends of Inwood Hill Park expands beyond the formation of the group, and touches many forms of NYC park & earth stewardship both past, present and future. For more details, see our regularly updated Stewardship page. |
